Section outline

  • This course provides access to our resources that introduce the Digital Research Alliance of Canada's national systems providing an overview of available systems and basic usage information including job submission and management, queuing policies, available software, and how to get support.

    • This is a self-paced course for persons that already have an account about who we are, where to get/ask for help, and our facilities and resources that are available.

If you don't already have an account, then follow these steps:

      • ASIDE:
        • If you are unsure if your CCDB account exists, works, etc. you can attempt to logging in to it on the CCDB page (which is the same page one uses to apply for an account as well): https://ccdb.alliancecan.ca
        • All accounts are renewed annually. So if your account was enabled but then wasn't renewed later, it was disabled and you will need to re-enable your account before you can use it to log in to our resources, web sites, etc. To re-enable your account, see the information given in the Account Renewal FAQ link in the above link.

Do read and follow the steps given in the above link, but to briefly summarize:

      • If you are a person, e.g., faculty at a Canadian academic institution, that determines research work follow the steps in the link given in the above.
      • If you are doing research under a supervisor / PI that already has an account, e.g., students, applying for an account is very quick-and-easy-to-do:
        • Before starting, ask your supervisor / PI for his/her CCRI number as this is needed in account application process which cannot be completed without it.
          • IMPORTANT: If your supervisor / PI does not have an account, then realize that your supervisor / PI must get an account before you can get an account.
        • Apply for your account.
        • After you submit your account application, your supervisor / PI will receive an email asking him / her to approve-verify that you are someone that will be doing research under his / her account. When such is approved, your account will be enabled (see your inbox for that email).
